It's not what you think

Today, I walked past a few of my coworkers sitting outside smoking. As I got a whiff of the smoke, I coughed. They immediately started to defend their habit, and I was told to "mind my own fucking business." I wasn't trying to be rude; I'm actually allergic to cigarette smoke. FML

I get horrible migraines from cigarette smoke. It really shouldn't be allowed outside popular buildings like that.

You should just tell them that smoking kills. Because if they smoke around you, you'll kill them.

Actually, smoking is one of the leading causes of heart attacks, hypertension, and strokes. They don't always die from lung cancer or emphysema. The constant vasoconstriction strains the circulatory system. My own father had a heart attack and the first and foremost thing they told him to do was to quit all tobacco products unless he wanted to end up back in the ER or the morgue.

You're right. I was just making a point that obesity is more easily fixed than problems attained from smoking. Even if you quit smoking, your health never goes back to what it was before. You can literally cure diabetes by losing weight.

Tell them "so who died and made you the ****** advocate for cigarette smoking?" shit I hate when they smoke cigarette anyways. Hope they get cancer soon. Inhaling rat poisoning and shit. So nasty

I hope you were kidding, because you shouldn't wish cancer on anybody, smoker or not.

Psst. Little tip. Those lead aprons are to make the patients feel better. They honestly don't do much. If you're going to get radiated, you're getting radiated. The way radiation travels, the lead aprons won't do anything. Ive had "frequent flyer" patients come in strung out on meth, and of course we have to do a CT each time to cover our asses, and these guys have the nerve to ask if the CT is bad for them.

I admit to being a smoker but that was just rude on their part. Just because you cough doesn't mean anything other than you coughed and that could've been attributed to anything; not just cigarette smoke. They're dumb for assuming you did it to indirectly scold them on their bad habit.

My mothers also allergic to smoke, it's why I had to give up smoking. Your co-workers shouldn't have been such assholes, I'm sorry OP!

Guilty consciences often make people strike out at others. They are the idiots. (Who cough, hack and wheeze because of an addition that is poisoning their bodies, killing them slowly.) I don't see this as much of a FYL as I see a F Their L

I'm a smoker and admit that, but those folks were jerks. Smoking is a bad habit and we all know that... Which is why if you're going to smoke in public, you have to be ******* considerate. OP wasn't sitting in the a bar where people can still smoke, she was walking at work. She shouldn't have had to walk through it.

That's when you tell them to go...

Lets be realistic. Allergic to cigarette smoke? Really? Your lungs just arent used to it but youre not allergic. As for the smokers just ignore them but dont say silly things like claiming fake allergies

There actually are people who are allergic to cigarette smoke, you know. My father and I are, as are several of the other commenters on this post...

122- My moms been hospitalized due to her allergy to cigarette smoke. It was the scariest thing I've ever had happen, now why don't you go be ignorant elsewhere.
