Being nice to your ex does not make you a bad person, you did not have to do it but yet you made him a favor. So in the end you just won a friend when everybody else has an enemy. Yet you don't know what he made in the past for you to be happy. I hope this works to your favor in the near future, if not, you didn't lose anything by helping someone you loved some time before now.
