Lonely birthday

Today, it's my birthday. Out of loneliness, I went to order some flowers and a cake "for a friend". The guy who delivered it to my house was the same guy from the counter. FML

Man that's lonely. On my birthday (8th of july) I didn't leave the house at all. I stayed home and programmed my most popular game and gave it a birthday theme. My fans were annoyed that I wasted time on a tacky update that would only be there for 1 day when I "could've been adding a new character". FML.

I think people are being a bit unfair. Depending on when Op's birthday fell (on a work day or a holiday) people might have honestly been busy. It says nothing about her not celebrating at a later time. She might have recently moved to a new city. Op, don't be too worried about it. I doubt he is going to tell everyone about your lie. If he does, then he is a jerk. People purchase cakes and flowers all the time. But, in a sense YDI because you made such a big deal about it. Yea, buying your own birthday cake might seem lame, but you don't have to justify it to anyone. If you had just purchased the cake and flowers and moved on people wouldn't have thought, "She is pathetic" they would have just assumed you were throwing a party and bought a cake for it.
