Haha, I love how everyone's all up in arms here. OP, here's the thing. Firstly, you're not an idiot for not knowing the difference - it's possible to live a life free of Skywalkers and Spock, and to not know anything about the movies/shows beyond the titles. I know heaps of people who have never had anything to do with either of them, and plenty of people who get them confused because, due to their total lack of interest, all that registers with them is "Star Something that's of the Sci Fi genre". But then, these are also the kinds of people who get Dumbledore and Gandalf confused (which causes an uproar all of its own, really). Secondly, FYL for dating a guy who would ditch you over something like that. Sure, he may have just been limiting the fall out - nipping it in the bud if it was such an indicator of conflicting interests (and really, he'd have to be pretty into them to dump you over it) but still - a tad extreme. Do you deserve to be ditched over something like that? Probably not, depending on who you talk to. Do you, however, deserve all the insults you're copping on this post? Yes, yes you do. Wanna know why? You posted it on THE INTERNET. The home/breeding ground of nerdlings, geeks, and cult fanatics of all things under the sci-fi umbrella. You'd have to be foolish not to realise that by posting something negative about Star Wars/Star Trek on an open forum like this you would be relentlessly attacked by the fangirls and boys of the FML world.
