Love is all around

Today, I had a double wedding with my sister. My mother, being as encouraging as she always is, told us that statistics say one of our marriages will end in divorce. She then explained she thinks it'll be mine because I'm "a self-absorbed bitch." FML

Well I think your mother is the one who is the self-absorbed bitch for making that comment, and you should have told her so.

now, children, let's not make comments about the double wedding. maybe they're popular or traditional in romania?i think that would be a good save of time and money, and quite interesting to see. OP: everyone's mom says that to them at some point. your mother just picked a bad time. you're probably not a self-absorbed bitch.

Or maybe she just really loves her sister and they want to have their special day together. :)

dont you just love alcohol? lol YDI for having an open bar

YDI for not having someone monitor mom at the open bar,

I'm not saying she's wrong. I'm saying she's wrong to say it. At a wedding. In front of everyone. In fact, regardless of the truth of your personality, any good points apparently haven't come from your mother's example.

Why would you have a double wedding in the first place?

Statistics don't say that. If half of marriages end in divorce, then based on that information alone, you can say that there's a three in four chance at least one of the marriages will end in divorce, and a one in four chance both will. Even that doesn't say one of you is bound to get divorced...there's still a one in four chance neither of you will. But that's not taking into account you or your sister's relationships, how well you planned, how long you dated, how well the respective couples knew each other, or anything personal like that. Unless there's a big difference between you and your sister's relationship with your husbands, you're probably going to turn out the same. Statistics don't lie. They just get misinterpreted. Best wishes on a long and happy marriage, and the same to your sister.
