my friends parents invite us all over for their daughters birthday to hang out and remember her, when she died 7 years ago, they do it every year.

Ever heard of this common little thing called 'premature babies'? Or alternatively 'Birth defects'? Almost all multiple births are somewhat premature. If they were identical triplets they may have all shared a birth defect that caused a very short lifespan.

I think the weird part is just that they call it a birthday, call it a born date or memorial day.... doesn't matter how old they were when they died, it's still a loss for the family. OP should just politely refuse to go if he/she feels uncomfortable...nobody can force you to a funeral or something that seems like one.... see no FML
