Today, I had to go to a birthday party for 10 year-old triplets. They've all been dead for more than 9 years. FML

my friends parents invite us all over for their daughters birthday to hang out and remember her, when she died 7 years ago, they do it every year.

"but im just wondering what terrible thing could cause the death of 3 infants" - multiple births. It was probably no "terrible thing" (although obviously the death itself is terrible), just the fact there were three born at once. A single birth is dangerous enough as it is, it gets more dangerous with every additional baby - twins, triplets, quadruplets etc. While we do have advanced medical technology that can help multiple births survive now, sometimes they're beyond help. While a regular baby born ten weeks early might be ok, triplets born ten weeks early are a whole lot less likely to survive.
