Meat is murder

Today, my fiancé's parents visited. I keep chickens for their eggs, and his parents own a farm, so we had a connection. They told us to leave the house while they cooked us dinner. When we returned, we faced two steaming plates of chicken. My chickens. They had names. FML

Awwwwww, that's so sad!!! Like they served you the family dog... So, did you tell them, or did you try to 'man up'?

That sucks bad! I would have burst out crying right in front of their eyes... I can't believe people are clicking YDI =/

If someone had done that to my pet chickens I would have cooked their cat (possibly).

aww! I'm a vegetarian too, that is so sad! They should have known you are vegetarian though! I mean don't you tell them?? =(

O. M. G. What kind of jerk steals dinner out of your backyard?! I wouldn't even cook food from someone's garden for them without asking first. Let alone kill their animals! I'm really sorry that happened. I hope they are at LEAST going to replace your chickens.

how does your fiances parents not know you're a vegetarian. (i'm assuming you've dated him/her for a while) And even if your fiance failed to bring this up to them at any point, you should have once they said they were going to cook you dinner so they wouldn't waste time on a meat based entree. thats terrible!!! im a vegetarian too... ur fiance's parents are really dumb and disrespectful, i mean even if u did eat meat they shouldnt have killed your chickens without even acknowledging the fact that they were yours.... if i were u i would have made them feel really really really bad about it without seeming like i was trying to. but part of me does kind of doubt this, i mean it is kinda far fetched =/ unless it really is possible for people to be that incredibly braindead.

Ok, wow, about 95% of the people on this thread are COMPLETE idiots. There is nothing wrong with not eating meat. No one is trying to "convert" you, you're just an angry unloved person who likes to try to piss people off. 91, you're my hero. THANK you. Finally another vegetarian who does it for the environmental reasons. Just another few things in addition to what you said: -conditions in farms where animals for food are raised are so bad that animals are dosed constantly with antibiotics to keep them alive. That's where the antibiotic-resistant bacteria of today come from, not from overprescription. -meat is processed unsanitarily; it's common for feces to get mixed in with processed meat. -most vegans don't eat eggs because of the farming practices, not because they're 'aborted chicken fetuses.' -organic and free-range meat are often misleading, and frequently have the same conditions as regular farms. Other than that...well, I could go into the health benefits of being vegetarian, but I'm not going to bother. I'm being much more preachy than I usually am anyway. My point is, those of you who think you're being cool by putting vegetarians down are helping bring about global warming, epidemics of super-bacteria, and the deaths of millions of animals each year. Congratulations, you're endangering the planet in three different ways. ...so much for not being preachy XD

#37, and #40! I fuckn hate when people say that vegetarians are still easting alive things by eating plants, because plants are alive. Plants and Animals ARE NOT THE SAME! Eating an animal is so different than eating a plant. And vegetarians are not retards!

So you refuse to eat the chickens, but have no problem eating their babies?

I'm NOT a vegetarian, but respect it as a choice (as long as they don't put on their self-righteous hat and try to "convert" me... )... That SUCKS... I can imagine it being a little like coming home and finding someone made a fur hat from my cat. :-( My sincere condolences!! VEGANS, on the other hand, I find insufferably smug and arrogant. I've yet to meet one that didn't think of themselves as "better" than someone who chooses to eat meat.
