Today, my fiancé's parents visited. I keep chickens for their eggs, and his parents own a farm, so we had a connection. They told us to leave the house while they cooked us dinner. When we returned, we faced two steaming plates of chicken. My chickens. They had names. FML

Today, while I was staying at a farm for a few nights, I got really connected to a chicken I met. It was so tame and really cuddly. I legit loved it so much. Later on, we had chicken for dinner. It was the same chicken. He also had a name. FML

Wow. this is the first fml i've read in ages and ages that actually made me feel genuinely sorry for the writer. :( i'm so so sorry, that REALLY really sucks a lot. especially since it was meant as a kind gesture. but seriously, what kind of people to check and ASK before killing other people's animals? y'know? *sigh* its so annoying how little 'common' sense is used in the world.

As a red-blooded meat eater I still think that's messed up. They were not their chickens to kill and cook. They should have had the sense to ask this. Not everyone eats meat, it's really not uncommon now-a-days.

Umm, assuming this FML is true, then how on earth did she deserve it? Who thinks if your in-laws show up to your house -- farmers or not -- that they will go out back to the chicken coop and slaughter live animals? They should ask for permission even if this girl was an avid meat eater. I suppose if you have a pet rabbit out back, you should make sure to tell your in-laws not to butcher it if they ever come over and offer to make dinner? What the heck?! I am sorry for the loss of your pets. That really stinks.
