Today, I was at my boyfriend's house. I've been a vegetarian for 4 years, and his mother made lasagna with meat in it. After telling her I don't eat meat, my boyfriend's father says "we know whose meat she does eat." My boyfriend, his mother, and I were standing right there. FML

boyfriends fault imo. If I were having my girlfriend over I'd make sure my mom knew she was a vegetarian. Dad sounds like a cool guy though

Awkwarddd lol. The people that are saying it was rude of her to turn down the meal are ignorant. You need to understand that there's diversity and not everyone eats the same things. Some people eat meat, some people don't eat meat. It's as simple as that. I'm a vegetarian and I'd be pissed off if anyone tried to force me to eat meat, even thought they knew I didn't. I don't go around forcing meat-lovers to eat vegetarian food, so I'd appreciate if they'd do the same. You say "Oh, why don't you just grow up and appreciate whatever is on your plate. You're so impolite" Well, why don't you accept the fact that not everyone has the same taste or views. I'm sorry, I don't know how strong your views are.. but I wouldn't stop being a vegetarian just for someone else. That would be pretty weak. It's MY choice, not someone else's. Some people here clearly don't understand this, I'm sure everyone is strongly biased on certain issues. Would you be okay with people telling you that your beliefs are rude and that you should change them in order to please others? The original poster could have just politely declined, but didn't have enough room to type that. FMLs have to be short and sweet. If she didn't, well that doesn't mean that all vegetarians are rude.

#166 Fellow vegetarian agreeing wholeheartedly :)

That dad is awesome. Also, I'm a vegetarian too and I agree with #166

You just got beasted on that dad is hilarious

ROFL, but still.... I heard that if you don't eat meat at all at a very young age (for the guys) for the duration of puberty, you are not going to develop that well. you need meat (protein, but they are probably alternatives) for you to 'grow'. I don't know if its true or not, just saying. Everybody wants to 'grow'... hopefully.

I can sympathize with both, awkward comments from the boyfriends parents and having something put in front of you that you don't eat Although depending on how long you've been with this guy and how often yall go out to eat, maybe your boyfriend should've noticed that you're a vegetarian.

oh my god #3 just made my day lol "you dont eat there delicious dinner" hha!
