wow I love some of these jerks who say you suck as a wife and a mom. If your kid is complaining about you, then you are doing your job. My brothers had the opposite situation with my dad and thier dad. Thier dad let them come over, drink, do drugs and shit while my dad (thier step dad) was a hard ass and punished them when needed. Granted the boys were teens at the time but they hated my dad and liked thier real dad. Then they got older and started having kids of thier own and all of a sudden they realized my dad was only trying to give them what they never had-- a real father that loved and cared about them and wanted them to turn into real men that would marry a woman with three young boys on her hands, with no hope of ever having a child of his own (although he did ;)) and love them as his own. Today they love my dad and appreciate him and all he has done for the family AND he has set an amazing example to my brothers on how to be a REAL man. Your daughter will change her tune eventually. When your child becomes old enough to truly understand everything you've done for her, she'll like you better.
Sometimes, I read these stories, and just want to hug the person telling it. Just like in your case. lol
At least she can hold a marriage together.
another thought this stepmom or dad's new gf or whatever might be trying to not replace or out-do you or anything. chances are that she's trying to be your daughter's friend, so as to allieviate any confusion or anything, and hey, who doesn't like their friends better than their parents. of course she LOVES u more, but that has nothing to do with liking u more. don't worry. she's still young. you're irreplacable as her mother, and always will be!!!

Sometimes kids play off on parent against the other to get stuff. You know, step mummy's better because she lets me eat fast food, watch tv late... or something to try and get you to do the same. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Kids say the darndest things.
