Hey, be thankful your kid at least has a practical qualification to fall back on. There are plenty who would have switched programs a week in, graduated with a degree in underwater basketweaving, and would have found themselves in a difficult spot (say, their parents' basement for a few more years).
I totally feel where he is coming from. I am currently in a nursing program and it is something I have wanted to do since junior high. Now that I am finding out what nursing truly is I am second guessing myself. It's damn tough trying to find something you will be doing for the rest of your life.
Well at least you didn't pay for him to get a uniform and everything for him to start working as a professional nurse before he told you... And maybe you should let him know that your not going to pay for a new career.... That is, unless of course, you ARE going to pay for a new job for him
"Eh, I kinda realized I hate raising you."
He gets a good qualification though and probably learned alot from the experience. I can understand that one might change one's mind about something, but it would be much better to do so earlier. You sound like a really really hardworking and kind parent though.
If he realized that he hates nursing, he may not suited to be a doctor either....
Blood, sweat and tears? What are you a gladiator? Make him pay a big part of his tuition next time if he decides to go back.
He should have figured that out sooner but he did stick it out.
To be fair he might have just hated it because he only just finished the degree

At least he finished. I'm a nurse and knew a few who quit half way through. He's always got it if he changed his mind later.
He should have known at least half way through is courses that he didn't want to be a nurse.
