Next step

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2011 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, after my son graduated from nursing school which I, as a single parent, paid for with blood, sweat, and tears, during his grad party he was asked what his next step was. His response was, "Eh, I kinda realized I hate nursing." FML

At least he finished. I'm a nurse and knew a few who quit half way through. He's always got it if he changed his mind later.

He should have known at least half way through is courses that he didn't want to be a nurse.

#80 Your a dumb ass and a jerk because you think the a nurse HAS to be a woman, I bet you make your mom make you breakfast, lunch, and dinner because you don't want to get off your lazy ass and you think she should do the cooking and the cleaning because she's a woman. Go F**k yourself.

Kick him out and let him work for a living, see how he loves it.

Just remind him if he works contract work it can pay over $50 an hour...

My friend did that. Went to a $40k/year school, her parents drained their retirement fund to pay for it, then she decides she's burned out on it. I can't even imagine-- when my major wasn't doing it for me, I immediately switched majors and now I'm so excited to graduate. Nursing school takes years, you'd think you'd figure out pretty early that it wasn't working out.

That sucks but honestly it wasn't your responsibility to pay for it. He should have worked for it himself or gotten loans. The hardship of being a single parent and paying for everything yourself should be over once he graduated high school... Regardless, he is so ungrateful and could at least keep his bad attitude to himself

If he's qualified as a RN it'll be incredibly easy for him to get a different job in healthcare with little to no training

I can't believe I'm speaking out in favour of student loans... :S but at least you pay for your own education that way instead of wasting other people's money...
