Breasts are not a get out of jail free card
Yeah nice try, ****.
YDI and I bet he was joking to get rid of you.
How is this an FML?
Rather sad, really. I know people are trying to justify what she did by saying that using sex appeal to get what you want is not slutty because it's a common practice. Okay, I can see where you're coming from, but consider the following: --If it suddenly became commonplace to murder any child who cried after the age of three in order to cut down on sound polution, would you all of sudden think it was okay? Or would the idea still horrify you? (not a totally comparable situation, I know, but hyperbole helps to make points) --She was attempting to use her sexuality to get herself out of punishment: a deserved punishment for not abiding by the rules (a basic rule, even: pay for services rendered). While sex appeal may be commonplace (see above note), that does not excuse using it to try to sneak around the law. THAT is why people are calling her a *****/*****/****. Admittedly, I agree that these names are harsh, but I also agree that she deserves it for her open attempts to use her body for illicit purposes. She even made mention of the fact that she thought, by opening her shirt a little, she might get out of a fine: this sets up her mindset into one of "if I just make myself a little sexier, I can get away with whatever I want." Not very forward thinking, wouldn't you say? --As stated above, would you have, then, called the conductor a pig-headed man if he HAD let her go because she popped a few buttons? In all honesty, I'll bet that nine times out of ten, the answer will be yes. If you're the one in ten, good for you, but this situation and the discussion surrounding it really does highlight the sexism directed, not only against women, but against men. Don't look at me like that: it's true! Men are given double standards in society just the same as women are. The situation here: if the conductor had been straight and had refused her, he would have become an a**hole in the mind of the OP, but if he had accepted her offer, he would have been called a "pig-headed, sex-driven man." I've seen it happen in situations not involving trains. Everyone is discriminated against. The point of this mini-wall: just remember that because something is commonplace doesn't make it right. And even then, there is always a time and place for things, and using them to get out of a fine/legal trouble is NEVER the place. That being said, I give the OP a big, fat YDI and ask her to, please, refrain from debasing the morals of women everywhere for her own personal gain. If you have them, flaunt them, sure, but only when appropriate. Again, time and place: this was neither.
Very well said; you have a great message AND reasoning in that.
Wow. The girl is Belgian, how many of you Englishmen and Americans have tried learning another language? I'm guessing not so many. So she made the tiniest mistake, it could happen to anyone. Also, for the matter of her being a ****: Oh, you probably don't get away from behind that computer a lot, thinking THIS is slutty. This is not at all "sexist"; I would actually rather call it using the benefit of being female.
It's not a matter of the action in and of itself being slutty: it's the fact that she was willing to use her sexuality to circumvent the consequences of her actions. The train of thought therein would go on to say that, if she's willing to use her body to do something small like this, what else would she be willing to use it for? We can't say with absolute certainty, but it takes a specific disposition of character to be willing to exchange sexual things--even if only mildly sexual things--for favors. " I would actually rather call it using the benefit of being female." Oh, okay, so, as one of the benefits of being a male I am--physically--predisposed to be stronger than the average female. So, therefore, if I were in the same position as the OP and the conductor was female, it would be perfectly fine for me to beat the sh*t out of her to avoid the ticket? I mean, hey, I'm just expressing my manly urges, right? No. Incorrect. I'm sorry, but using "feminine benefits" to get yourself out of legal trouble is never okay. In summary, all your comments seem to have forgotten one thing: the fact that what she did was *illegal*.
