Nice try

Today, I snuck out of the house to go to a party. When I got back later, I tried climbing back up the rope-ladder I'd set up earlier, leading back through my bedroom window. I was halfway up when it broke free. I sprained both my ankles and had to shamefully ring the doorbell to get back in. FML

Problem 1) Stupidly sneaking out Problem 2) Stupidly setting up a weak rope ladder Problem 3) Being an idiot This brilliant plot was doomed from the start.

Hope you learned some kind of lesson from this, OP.

Alright, you did deserve it for stupidly sneaking out, but your life does suck in terms of you almost made it back safe until the oh snap! I hope you're alright though

Sucks to be you. I was mature enough to where my parents just gave me a time to be back. Grow up more and maybe they won't treat you like a little kid.

YDI. Want to know the secret to being allowed to go to parties to begin with? Prove to your parents that you are smart enough Not to make dumb decisions like drinking underage or doing illegal drugs. Also be home by curfew. Once you build the trust you'll be amazed at the freedom parents are willing to give and once you have it dont screw it up by doing said stupid behavior. Rebelling by sneaking out only proves your lack of ability to comprehend the consequences of your actions, a lesson my younger sister had to learn when she tried " but big sister can do what she wants" Yeah, cause I've already proven I'm not an absolute idiot.

Some parents are also aggressively protective which lead to that kind of behaviour, you shouldn't just assume

So you want us to feel bad that you snuck out and it didn't work out like you planned? YDI, you snuck out that's your fault. I didn't start drinking till college. If you have to sneak around you either young enough that it isn't something you should be doing anyway if: your parents are religious or you are still living at home( if you live in there house you gotta respect there wishes). YDI

Parents that say you can't do this and that is what make kids/teens want to do it even more. It's Better off being straight up and letting them party so you know where they are and what they're up to

Axel5238 29

Yes, let them go out and party presumably under age before they have they ability to realize the potential dangers/consequences of those actions.

U know a burglar cud of climbed straight into your room?

this is why u climb a tree or something else

all these people saying don't sneak out never had fun

Oh yes we had fun, we were just smart about it, having fun while parents allow you to have fun because they trust you, both having fun AND you can feel good about it, wouldn't anyone agree that that's generally better ? :)

i am the only one thinking about possible robbers using his ladder and open window to get into the house while he's gone?
