Well, now you know never to trust your cousin with anything again. Whether or not his friend was playing a joke, your cousin violated your confidence when you were trying to be supportive.
So that's the reason why people still text "I'm gay"...it's to check who will answer "Me too"!
I mean it sucks that this happened, but I am curious, how did your family take it? I hope they were accepting.
Haahahaha sucks for you~
tell them you was trying to support him

What a pustulent gaping dickhole! Whether his text was sincere or not he should have been touched to have it received supportively, and shown his gratitude by not gossiping what was plainly told to him in confidence. OP your family may have found out you're bi, but you all also found out your cousin is disloyal and dishonorable, which should upset all your decent relatives WAY worse. So hopefully this incident helps you weed out who's worth staying close with and who isn't.
You could tell them you just said that to try to be supportive. Or... you could just own it and stand proud. This coming out was kind of like getting a band aid ripped off, painful at first but less painful in the long run.
