I think you may be overreacting. I find it hard to believe that an addiction like that could develop over the course of just one vacation. Throw away any alcohol you have in your home, read, watch tv, and see how the night goes.
I'd say it's also possible the problem was exacerbated by jet lag.
OP it's your choice to continue to drink, mind over matter. This is coming from someone who was on that slippery road.
Happened to me on my trip to Dublin. I then missed alcohol for weeks :(
