Today, at my grandmother's funeral I tried my hardest not to cry, only allowing tears to fall and not making any noise, to be respectful at her funeral. Afterwards, my mother tells my father that I didn't cry, which obviously meant that I didn't love my grandmother and had no soul. FML

It's a funeral, you're allowed to cry. Why would being upset at a funeral be disrespectful?

I didn't cry and my great grandpas funeral because I was trying to be the strong one, there's no shame in it. I'm sorry for your loss.

Sometimes people just don't cry at funerals grief is weird. People deal with it in different ways. Your mum is being an idiot but if that was her mum then maybe that's why. She could be blaming you to make her pain easier or something?

It's weird, the posts I have seen about funerals on here. There have been some where not crying he's disrespectful, and somewhere crying is disrespectful. It seems like there is no easy way of being respectful for a funeral…
