Out of the frying pan, into the fire

Today, I've been home from prison for over a week, I still don't have a job or a vehicle, and my mom keeps checking my phone. FML

OP here. I have since received an offer, took it, then had multiple offers at other places. Things are working out on this end. Been working all my hours plus some and got a truck. Making a come up after spending 7 years in the clink. Thanks for all the support guys/gals!!! 🙏

I don’t think it’s ever too late to change your life around if you’re sincerely working towards it. This situation sucks, but it’ll pass. Are there groups in your area you can turn to that try to help ex-convicts get back on track?

Dude, even us non-criminals struggle to get work within a week. However, based on a documentary I once saw, the best place to work after leaving prison is Baskin Robbins. As long as they don't find out you're a convicted felon. Also, you're going to have to regain your mom's trust. Whatever you did has made her suspicious and worried in equal measure, and she wants to make sure you don't end up back in prison, or dead.

depending on what you did, you don't really get to be upset about lack of trust. It sucks getting back into society after a society built punishment is so difficult, though. you did your time, the and you should be able to make your way back into society (depending on what you did... some shit isn't forgivable.). personally breaking the law isn't the measure of a person being good or bad, it's the morality of the situation. walmart theft is what ever... A B&E on someone's house is way worse

As long as you're living in her house, your mom has a right to protect herself from you. Your decision-making is not great so she needs to understand who you are getting mixed up with. Either move out or do the work to build trust and get your privacy back.

Dude after all the politics in prison it was difficult getting back into the work force. Fortunately Amazon is felony friendly to a degree. I had to submit copies of the police report and a statement of deep remorse basically outlining who I was and who I am now in order to get REHIRED. 3 years later I’m still working for em and got my CDL…I have a felony DUI…and two misdemeanor DUI’s. God is REAL this was a real miracle. I had a lawyer tell me it would take 10 yrs regardless of the state. so keep your head low drive slow don’t violate parole and handle your business. 💯

I ended up taking a job at a multinational auto supplier. Working my tail off and keeping my ps & qs.
