Overreacting a tad

Today, my friend told me she was going to start drinking Gatorade, so she could get the body shape of the athletes on TV. When I tried to explain to her that she'd also need to work out to achieve this, she went nuts and hurled the bottle at my face. FML

Americans these days... What? Someone would have said it sooner or later...

What within this FML made you mention Americans? That she was using Gatorade as a diet? I'm tired up to my proverbial balls with this anti-American bull crap. I would love to know how many ignorant ***** are judging a country they've never even been to. Seems just as ignorant. If I've never been to Australia (for example) how would I know if Koalas are as common as squirrels are here? I wouldn't since I've never been there.

Yes because every American does that.

38, maybe it was the fact it says United States (Maryland) as the OP's location. Jeez, get over yourself. I don't get all "you're so anti-British" when people make tea/crumpets/limey remarks. You know why? Because I'm not an over-sensitive pussy. And besides, the "anti-American" line is about as stupid as they come. You need some tissues now?

Well, I was stating the stereotype that Americans generally eat like crap and don't work out (not true, but it's a stereotype), and it relates because OP is from America too... Not the best comment by me.

And 38, I'm American myself, so I think I've been to America... EDIT: Since I'm not stupid I know what you're saying, but you put up a bad argument with how you worded it.

I think that comment was sarcastic, however I agree with you about the hypocritically ignorant attitude many people from other countries display on this site. They ironically assume that all Americans are ignorant of other cultures, while being ignorant of American culture themselves. Not only that, but they fail to realize that Americans can't be lumped together in one group and that going to another state is like going to another country. Someone from New York will be very different than someone from Texas, and someone from Texas or New York is very different than someone from California.

I was replying to #38 btw. Before those other replies showed up. :/

On behalf of the southeast texans on the site I will say that we don't recognize some Californians as being American because they're just plain weird. But I agree with the other guy that all of the people who want to assume that all Americans are dumb fat lazy assholes dude. Get a life. I'm sure you've got overweight people in your country too. America has one of the highest standards of living in the world so yeah we enjoy the fruits of our labor but we are not all dumb or fat. Just throwin that out there for you

#42- Why would I need a tissue? I'm not a overly sensitive dbag. You missed my point completely. For the record it doesn't say what state it was posted from on my phone. #48- It was poorly worded, so I'm glad you get what I'm saying. It was to late to edit anything. It can be difficult at times writing with my brain tumor. It muddles things up. I'm an American as well. I lived outside the states for three years and if I wasn't being verbally attacked about our politics, I heard a lot of fat/dumb American jokes.

#52- THAT'S what I was trying to say, but worded it all wrong.

Can I just point out that dancinwookie is embodying the "arrogant American" stereotype WHILE ARGUING AGAINST STEREOTYPING? Please sister, lots of countries get stereotyped, and you have the balls to act like the USA is the only one, or that it's the only one that matters?

#42, I don't see how #38 was being a "whiny pussie." He was just standing up for his country and pointing out the bigotry of others. And perhaps you don't get annoyed at "tea/ crumpets" comments, but personally I've seen only one or two on this site and they weren't disparaging of Great Britain, as opposed to the literally hundreds of "duuuuuuh... Americans are all fat and stupid!" comments. I'm sure as the open minded and understanding person you've shown yourself to be, you can see how that would get on someone's nerves.

#76, I think he was just pointing out that it's a stereotype that frequently appears on this site and pointing out the hypocrisy in it. Nowhere did she suggest that it is the only national stereotype that exists or that it's the only one that matters. Seems to me that you're just picking a fight here.

Oh wow people assume the craziest of things things here. I mentioned America, because that's the country that was mentioned. Did I at all state anywhere in my posts that America is the only country has problems? No. I just said these fat/stupid American jokes are getting old.

Who would've thought a harmless comment on my behalf would cause major drama. At no point, from what I reread, makes me sound arrogant. Jesus. Ireland is known to be full of drunks, all Japanese play video games 24/7, Germans like to start wars....We all have them! Good lord people, quit assuming things and take a chill pill. I wasn't even saying it in anger. I was simply making a comment.

I love how people always joke about stereotypes on other countries but as soon as someone mentions an American stereotype, you all think he is an asshole. Damn hypocrites.

Actually, I beg to differ. In vacation in Chicago, I have seen people exercise SO much. Everyone is running, biking, roller blading, etc. Plus, you can't blame an entire nation for someone else's actions. i.e. Oh she is poor, she must be Malaysian.

From what I've seen on this site, American stereotypes seem to be the most commonly mentioned. It's not the stereotype itself that is frustrating but the frequency of its occurrence.

117 - your profile picture is an optical illusion! It's a cat and if you look closely, a chick (the cats ear is the beak, that might help people see it).

Lol! What? I don't see that at all. That's my kitty cat, Tony Montana, not an adorable optical illusion! :P

On behalf of the rest of america I do not consider texas a state because it's full o cousin ******* cowboys

I do kinda relate to #11 here.... I went to the US wearing a Canadian hockey league toque and got dirty looks from about ten different people. And I don't buy American flag tattoos for US day cause I celebrate Canada day.

Funny how some people are complaining on how Americans are stereotyped and aren't 'all the same' when they ridicule people from other countries. Ex. All Asians are smart. All Arabs ride camels. All Canadians say eh.

A lot of stereotypes are true. For example, America > everywhere. :] I wish I could think of some Toby Keith lyrics to sound a little more arrogant, I would look them up but I'm too fat and lazy too. I need some Starbucks.

#52 - That's extremely untrue. I'm British, and I've never even been to America, but I know quite a bit about America - or anywhere for that matter, I'm pretty well-learned. It's a huge place, and each individual state has its own characteristics, and the vast majority of individuals from one state are nothing like another. For example, I know that if I were to go to Texas, I wouldn't exactly be expecting what I would find in California. They're almost like two very different countries, just to state an example. Not all of us are ignorant to your culture or ways, it's just another one of those stereotypical jokes we mainly get from just society, and its (more often that not) used in a sarcastic sense. Don't generalise all of us to be ignorant douches who have no idea what we're saying.

She could've taken it as an insult when you told her she'd needed to workout as well, not realizing you meant everybody would have to workout to get those types of bodies.

Let her drink the Gatorade and get fat from their sugar content. She might figure it out then.

She probably just assumed you were calling her fat:) no biggie... You just ruined her self esteem and any chance for her to have a normal life with a good man! She'll eventually end up in a trailer park fat and barefoot with 7 kids running around! I should be a fortune teller... Joking:)!

Yeah, because telling someone they need to work out to get the body shape of athletes implies that you're calling them fat... You're an idiot.

TxCountryBeauty 10

Yea and you have no sense if humor... It's called sarcasm learn about it!:) now being a female we have these things called periods each month when we get a little moody and take certain things the wrong way. It's perfectly understandable for Op's friend to get upset if she was told that she needed to work out to appear athletic. The majority of girls are SELF CONSCIOUS and telling them things like that can make them feel bad about themselves and in return angry at whoever said it... Have you learned enough? Lastly next time you're going to attempt to insult someone come up with something better than idiot

129 - Who it was that time of the month for OP's friend?

TxCountryBeauty 10

Nobody said it I was stating that it was a possibility

She's taking your advice and working her arm muscles?

Shot put is no joke! That and discus that's a hell of a lot of strength.

I kno and its a start and whoops i got the fact that i spelled it wrong

Ahahahahahhahahaha that's hilarious! Well the part about her actually thinking that only stoking gatorade will help her shape up. Sorry about you being hit though.

I see she already began the steroids as well.
