Can't we all just respect each others' choices? Is there any reason we can't all just get along and discuss this issue civilly without resorting to insults and name-calling? Come sit and talk with me. We can share my double bacon cheeseburger.
Mmmm. *steals it*
Sensible? Show them how much less likely you're to have cancer as a vegan. Eating meat is more cancer causing the smoking.
That might be the most ridiculous claims I've ever heard. You might want to check your sources my friend.
Colon cancer far less then 1%
If only.
41... Really? REALLY!? Go educate yourself. That's ludicrous.
Honestly, as a vegetarian, it sucks to be picked on for carefully ordering your food. I may not agree with veganism completely because I find it too extreme at times but at the end of the day, vegans & vegetarians, have similar reasons to not eat meat. Some health, some ethical, some religious or sometimes it's just experimental. My reason is because it helps my health. My stomach wasn't able to handle red meat in the first place without stomach pain later. Sometimes my body would completely reject meat from just smelling it so often. For some reason I never had an a big appetite for it. Plus, certain hormones in meat gives me joint pain since I'm predisposed to rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. People say "Vegan/vegetarian people are contradictory because plants are living things." Plants perceive pain differently from animals because they don't exactly have pain receptors like animals, they release chemicals for repair instead of activate pain receptors at the site of injury to promote healing like us mammals. So please don't judge. Everyone is entitled to their own personal lifestyle. Some people eat dinner plates of nothing but meats, & others eat nothing but veggies, grains & beans. Both can be called unhealthy due to excess of similar foods. But it is their own life choice. So let it be.
Congratulations on sticking it out for a year, OP! That takes a lot of willpower. I just wish the world would acknowledge what meat is more. It's not 'pork'. It's never just 'pork'. It's the 'hind leg muscle of an eleven month old pig'. Same with 'beef', because is not 'beef'. It's a 'strip of muscle from the back of a three year old cow'. Veal, bacon, we come up with all of these deceptive terms. People just need to stop lying to themselves about what they're eating. We give animals terms like 'pork' and such, so that we won't associate what we eat with the animal it actually is. I eat meat, but I try to eat it sparingly, and I don't lie to myself about what I'm eating.
Your comment made me hungry.
We give meat names like pork because hind leg muscle of an eleven month old pig is a mouthful. Also if what you're saying is true, what's your explanation for chicken?
I dunno they kinda have a point. There's lots of good proteins and stuff in meat.
If you eat meat, you are likely getting too much protein. Meat also has animal fat which causes heart attacks, stroke, blood clots and more. And most meat that you will consume also contains growth hormones and antibiotics that can be damaging to your health. All the other "good stuff" in meat can all be found in plant based foods. The only thing you need a supplement for as a vegan is vitamin B 12. Now that you know that, do you still think it's insensible?
I'm a carnivore because plants have feelings. I feel bad if I eat their ovaries :(

Fruits and vegetables were once living too before consumed.
I don't care if it's a meat, vegetable, fruit, or an freaking article of clothing. If it's delicious, I'll eat it. if it's not delicious, put hot sauce on it. Then it's delicious and I'll eat it.
