Miss the promotion, get married
who tf spends 10k on a wedding!?
Most weddings cost around $10,000 if not more.
Mine didn't.
A lot of weddings in my culture cost close to 100,000

Show it anywayWow I would just do what my heart told me to do and that would be get married
Well...congrats on the promotion
I do believe that due to how long you would have given your employer notice you may find that a quick chat to HR and explain your situation could mean the wedding is on still. Also if your job is forcing you to cancel tell them they will have to pay for it, they will let you go then.
The let go part might actually mean getting fired. It's a tough call for OP and the spouse, should be a team decision.
Turn down the promotion. Follow your heart- and your wallet! $10,000 is a HUGE amount to lose...
Nothing is "mandatory".
agreed. explain the situation. I worked at a place and had a mandatory meeting and if you didn't show you got fired. I had class at the same time and let the manager know that I'd be going to class instead. he just went through everything with me the next time I worked. good luck, I hope they're understanding.
People are going to be saying just quit but it looks like OP is choosing the job so that must mean her job is super important to her. Best of luck to you OP.
OP is male. And I hope he'd choose the wedding over the promotion. He can't get that $10,000 back.
Tell you what. If the company will pay you the $10,000 you spent, reschedule. If not, either chat with your HR department, turn down the promotion, or just find a new job.
F**k it
