Pleased to meet you

Today, a thirty-something guy swaggered into my workplace. He was wearing shutter shades and torn jeans, and claimed to be our new boss. I called security to throw him out, at which point he produced his ID and let me know I'd be attending an employee review session next week. FML

But I don't blame you, who can take him seriously if he's not professional?

People still wear shutter shades?

Completely unprofessional of him, regardless of where you work. ID should be presented upfront, and since your first thought was to call security and not demand to see credentials, I'm thinking you work in an upscale or business-professional environment, and your actions were legit.

He obviously needs to attend a fashion "emergency" class. Because shutter shades, and hokey jeans remind me of a beach bum not a new boss. First impressions anyone? I know what I would think.

Nice man, i also can spot out a judgmental prick easily! That's you.

YDI u judged him by stereotypes. Never judge a book by its cover. The way he was dressed doesnt affect his ability to do his job. I hope u get fired and learn ur lesson

You might want to start working on your resume.

I'd be looking for another job in the mean time , Hopefully it works out for the best OP

The last time I transferred, I came to my meet and greet in Levis and a Pantera tour t-shirt. I found out who was uptight, insecure, presumptive or snobbish in under two minutes, learned everyone's names and then went to the company gym and changed to go sit at my desk and start weeding out the excess baggage in the office. For furure reference, most new bosses are brought in to make changes. If your work and personality don't impress them, a decade of mediocre snivelling to their predecessor won't save your job.

73- Actually, if you showed up like that as my new boss, I'd be pretty impressed with how casual, approachable and secure you would have seemed. :) I like that approach to get a better idea of people when you catch them off guard. Cuts through the bullshit a bit quicker, I imagine.

Yeah, it saves months on creating persobality profiles. Most people take it pretty well in stride, but their response to Saturday casual in the office will tell you a lot about them as a person, good or bad.

Clever - but there's a difference between dressing casual and dressing like a character from an 80s music video.

Was there a camera crew following him? It could be a filming of the show "Undercover Boss" and he just tricked you.

Congrats an LMFAO groupie is your new boss.
