Prejudice

Today, I was hanging out with a friend out of state. He had some friends with him and we were all having a great time, until they found out I live in Utah. They instantly assumed I was Mormon and started to act weird around me. This is a frequent occurrence. FML

start asking them if they would like to hear about our lord and savior Cthulu

It should be as simple as: "Are you mormon?" "No" " Ok cool" Your friends are idiots.

So then why didn't your 'friend' stick up for you? It shouldn't matter what religion you are - and anyone who gets weird after finding out your religion (or in this case state of residency) is probably not worth your time anyway. All of these ignorant mormon stereotypes are really getting old.

I live in Utah too friend. Unfortunately I know your pain as well. I am actually atheist and whenever I go out of state it is the worst. I go to the east coast some times and it is the worst there. So just let them know that you are not Mormon and you should be okay!

Sounds about right. When people ask where I'm from my answer usually is. "I'm from Utah and no I'm not Mormon"

I'm also from Utah and I usually say the same thing. Though about half the time the follow up of "what religion are you then?" Gets asked and when I reply that I'm an atheist, people act weird about that too

My question is why would it matter if OP was a Mormon or not? No need to act weird or different. Mormons are just normal people and act like everyone else. I myself am one and when I meet new people or am with my friends, I dont preach to anyone.. get real -_-

You can't speak for all of them. Having used to be one, considering the fact they go on missions to shove it in other countries' faces and coming to your house on their little bikes and crap, they're very pushy overall. I live in the idiotic Southern Bible Belt. They portray many stereotypes and are bot nice people. I'm pretty sure those countries have their own dieties and are happy with what they have without brainwashing. If something is working, why change it? You don't see them coming to America to force themselves on us, not athiests, agnostics, or gays going door to door.

#42 Liar. Gay people always show up at my place, asking if I was interested in a whole new world. They lie, it doesn't change anything.

#42 - You tell someone else they can't speak for all Mormons and then go on some rant about your own opinions of them. So, what makes you any better? Trying to bash Mormons as part of your comment makes you just like op's dumb ass friends for being so judgmental. If you don't want to be a part of the religion that's your choice just don't put other people down for not having the same beliefs as you.

I am sorry you feel that way towards the church. Your insults and attacks though are rather emotional and angry, which was pretty uncalled for and pointless. Also, to point out, you made some false statements. If you don't want to be a Mormon, I accept you for your decision, but don't make a fool of yourself by feeling the need to boast how your not a Mormon anymore and attacking the church. Just leave quietly.

People just don't get things, the people who are up tight and shitty about the littlest things are the reason why this world is so corrupt

I moved to utah and I get that all the time!
