hahahahah. well after my 18th birthday my mums response to every thing was always "your big enough and ugly enough to figure that out by you self, life is a bitch".... lol

I doubt he meant it. A father wouldn't mean that to their kid because initially they're calling themselves ugly because the kid is half of them, they're just too afraid to say it to themselves in the mirror. Gain some self confidence and self esteem and accept who you are. Don't take anything personally.

Don't let words bring you down! I have bad acne and am right now taking multiple things to get rid of it, I may even end up having to go on Roacutane (which has an awful lot of side effects) if it doesn't get better soon. I know I don't look anywhere near 'beautiful' but I really don't care. Why should looks matter so much? I hate how nowadays everyone cakes their face in make-up just so that they can look 'pretty'. I've learnt to ignore the comments others have made, no-one has any right to judge you by looks, not even your own father! I've had problems with people bullying me and some who take one look at my face and start screaming and call me ugly and say that my face is messed up, ironically, they're the ones who smother make-up all over their face to make themselves look pretty and are probably very self-conscious. Nothing good comes from being very self conscious, just accept how you look and learn to love it! Wow, giant wall of text! Sorry!

Well said! Some of the most beautiful women I know are beautiful on the inside, look aren't everything. OP's dad is a jerk for what he said.

I agree with what you're saying, however you seem very against makeup. It can look natural and can enhance features which is why I use it - to enhance my features, not to "look pretty".

I'm not against a bit of make-up, there's nothing wrong with that. It's just the people who pile it on and literally hid behind a mask that I hate. Me though, I'm a bit of a tomboy so I would never wear make-up, and besides, with my acne, putting on a bit of blusher would probably make my face look worse.

Understood, and I agree; people look so stupid with an inch-thick mask of concealer and foundation, especially if it's orange! My bad though, I misinterpreted your post.

I've taken accutane for years. it's worth it if u can stand the aweful side effects. lots of headaches, nosebleeds, dry eyes etc... only use it if it is your last resort. my skin has been bad since I was 16 and im 29 now and it's finally gone. I was on and off accutane for 4 years.

209 - The difference is I don't try to change anything. My foundation if I ever use it matches my skin tone and I like natural looking colours. I do use colour on occasion but it's not excessive like some of the other girls; they always look like they're trying to hide or distract from something. That's what I mean. I'm enhancing what I've already got.
