Pretend to be busy!

By nichaneely - This FML is from back in 2010 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I got yelled at by one of my bosses. The reason? I was yawning. I work at Starbucks. Apparently, I wasn't 'promoting' correctly. FML

Boss chews me out for that sometimes... I laugh and agree with her as it creates a poor image if a customer sees it (Doesn't stop me though :))

Sarcasm is a nice way to get to your boss to lighten up... if you can't talk to them. When I was a kid on theatre concessions we wouldn't have ANY costumers between movies, yet we couldn't just stand there or we'd get yelled at. Solution? Stand in one place... with a broom. Or stand there and continually wipe the same area on the counter. Sounds like your boss is a bit bored so they need to yell at you so they won't get yelled at by the person above them.

Theatre + costumers = win. Unfortunately, I think you meant 'customers'.

Haha! This made me laugh so hard. I love starbucks a little Effed up of your boss, but it makes sense, eh?

Coffee. See, it's supposed to wake you up, not make you yawn, and if the person selling the coffee isn't very awake, then most customers aren't going to think, "Oh, this person just hasn't had any coffee because she's been too busy working." They're going to associate the seller with the product. IE, if seller is tired, product will not wake you up. And if the coffee won't wake you up, you might as well go somewhere cheaper.

Your boss is right. Yawning in a coffee shop is completely unacceptable. Sweating profusely, twitching, hyperactivity, rapid pulse and peeing frequently are acceptable, nay, rather excellent traits to exhibit while hawking caffeine-delivery systems.

ha ha. thats kinda funny but your boss is completely uneducated since yawning isn't proven to be linked to tiredness. it hasn't been proven to be linked to anythin though a thory is lack of oxygen or tiredness. its proven that dogs tawn when under stress though... its proven that the stretching of the muscles are crutial in the yawning process... yea... rambling. anyway FYL

wow. but your boss does have a point. look up the etiquette on yawning. and you're not fired. take it as a lesson learned. now you know better.
