Put that in your pipe and smoke it

Today, I was shopping when I overheard a woman telling an employee that she was buying an iPad for her 5-year-old son. Annoyed, I turned around and ranted about how he should have more age appropriate toys. Then she explained that her son is autistic and will be using the iPad to communicate. FML

Why do you care what other parents get their kids for Christmas? It should make no difference to you, unless your just jealous because you can't get your kids the same thing. It's their money they can spend it how they want instead of having to listen to a nosy body like you who feels the need to rant about everything

I have severe arthritis in my hands, which deteriorated terribly during the duration of my degree. My mum bought me an iPad for writing with a stylus or finger because of loss of grip and less pressure needed and for having text books on so I don't have to carry them (as my arthritis is all over but worst in my hands) and now it has replaced my big old desktop and I can carry it everywhere. On a very bad day I can just photograph the boards or record the audio of the lecture. They really are invaluable tools for anyone with any communicative or physical disability, and the fact parents and educational institutions have realised this is wonderful, it means people who struggle day to day can have their lives improved. On the topic of communication I lived away from my family for a while, but the in built free messager allowed me to send things to my mum and sister when I wanted to talk no matter where they were. I've never encountered a device that can do so much so well, from writing and scanning to games and the Internet, it does it all perfectly, and I really couldn't manage the rest of my degree without it. Yes, we rely on technology, but is that such a bad thing? We rely on technology to keep us alive when we have surgery, no one would say that's bad... And if that child manages to send a message or picture to family and feel more included and involved its wonderful :3

Wow, the most disrespectful comment I have ever heard was "hand-flapping tard" by nowayisthisreal. I am on the autism spectrum disorder and I am not a "Hand flapping tard." I had a happy childhood, my family was strict and I behaved, so if it's the result of bad parenting, why do I have it? My 6 year old cousin has a more severe case of it, and he has an IPad to help him communicate with people. Shame on you OP for sticking your nose where it didn't belong

Regardless of if he was Autistic or not,, why the hell is it any of your business what she buys for HER son?? You didn't birth him. You don't contribute anything to raising him. Your opinion is therefore completely irrelevant. **** off.
