Today, we found out that my 13-year-old cousin is pregnant. My mom then turned to me and asked why I decided to wait so long. I’m only 20. Instead of being worried that this young girl has potentially ruined her entire life, my mom just complained that her sister "gets to be a grandma first." FML

Today, I told my mom I was thinking of having a baby. She told me it was a huge mistake because children cost a fortune, make you miserable, and if she'd had her chance again she would have gotten her tubes tied when she was 18 and saved herself the grief. Gee, thanks mom. FML

Today, my mom had to go off on my grandmother because I don’t have kids yet and she, "wants great grand babies before she dies." My grandmother was going to gift me a baby outfit for me to get another hint. I’m 25 and can’t conceive because of health issues. I may never have my own kids. She knows. FML

Today, I told my dad that I'm pregnant. He shook his head and said, sadly, "What a waste. You're way too young to throw your life away like this." Silly me; I was worried that at 46 I might be too old for this. FML

If this is in the USA, age of consent is 17. Even if the father is 13, its still considered statutory rape. Until you hit 17, everything us statutory rape, whether welcome or not. The father, no matter the age can be charged with this. Also, in some cases, due to her being 13 and pregnant, social services could start investigating the parents for criminal negligence and lose their child, especially if they endorse it, or failed to take any measures to prevent sex at that age. Just because the child has sex, doesnt always mean its against the parents teachings. Some parents are complete shit, and do absolutely nothing including fail to teach safe sex or even keeping an eye on the child (some exceptions exist, such as the child running away, having sex while at a friends house, or skirt out of parents watch creatively to do this)

Your mother has some serious problems. Don't let her problems affect your life. You're absolutely correct in thinking that your cousin has ruined her life, and you're further correct in thinking that 20 is a time when you should have a bit of fun in your life; and not be tied down with the responsibility of a child. Get away from your mother's influence asap, and keep living the life of your choosing. You seem to be doing a much better job at it than your mother has.
