Maybe she was referring to a nice and soft foot? It could be taken as a compliment or as a sign of the child just not being able to communicate properly

Reminds me of a Full House episode where Joey was saying how he thought when he was called a "towhead," when he was younger, he didn't realize it was in reference to his blonde hair. It's possible she heard that term used, and misunderstood it.
