Some people really don't deserve the right to own animals. Prime example here, they were worried about their child only because they'd treated it the same way they would NORMALLY treat their cat. Which is pretty ******* messed up.

You don't have the same experiences with cats as everyone else. I had 3 cats and I used to push them off my bed because all they would do is get up in my face and scratch me until I woke up. If I shoved them off or picked them up and put them on the floor, they would stay off. So in some situations it would be acceptable to kick the cat off the bed. But to a degree. obviously not as hard as the OP, but what I would do is gently lead them towards the edge with my leg amd let them jump off. Aside from that mind set, cut the OP some slack. OP was mostly asleep and obviously wasn't able to think rationally yet. Put yourself in OP's shoes. I'm sure you've done something hysterically stupid due to being tired and irrational. I myself have broken a finger trying to turn my alarm off while half-asleep
