Red tape

By BLAH - 14/02/2012 14:42 - Philippines

Today, after finally returning to my house after over a year overseas, I found that my neighbours built a wall covering the only window in my bedroom. Not only is my room eternally musty and pitch black, but the council won't accept my complaint, because apparently my window was illegally built. FML

That's definitely not what you deserve to come home to! What shall the FML mob do to such inconsiderate neighbors?! ;)

How is a window illegally built. Unless you built it while high??

At least you have a room, so look on the bright side! Oh wait........

Thanks for enlightening us with that story. I can't stand that moldy/musty smell, really makes me gag. Clean up your house then get to plotting revenge >:|

spray stuff on the wall. atleast you wont have a hard time sleeping.

How, exactly, can a window be illegally built? Also, OP didn't build the window - whoever installed them did. Er, well they didn't build them, but they placed them. Whatever, the point is, now is that even possible?

If the window overlooks part of their neighbour's property, that can sometimes be a problem. But I can't see how else.

Many fire and building codes specify the maximum number and size of windows in a wall close to an adjacent building. Learned that from Holmes on homes.

The window could be too high or not permitted.

Install another illegal window in their wall.

those ******* should have respect towards you! thank you for your service!

How sad is it that so few Americans travel outside the country that when someone mentions they lived overseas for a year, the first conclusion is they were in the armed forces.

Oh wait I misread your comment, bit still assuming that just because he assumes that all Americans think that is pretty stupid

This brand new technology exists, lightbulbs or something like that, they make dark rooms brighter. My window's covered with blinds 24/7, you conveniently have what some people choose to have.

i want to emphasise what another user said earlier- no where in this post does it say that the op is a servicemember. also, the window in question may have been against the firecode for many reasons- size, location, etc.
