Riot!

Today, it was my first time as a hockey referee, for a game played by 7-year-olds. At one point, a little boy tripped another boy. Doing my job, I gave him 2 minutes in the penalty box. After the game, I was attacked by a mob of parents. I was even given an optometrist's business card. FML

You're a referee, expect people to hate you.

people need to stop taking sports so seriously! i mean, for Christ's sake, IT'S A ******* GAME!!!

I was a ref for 13 years...I recently quit. Fo two reasons: the attitudes and the language these kids use towards eachother is ridiculous! And secondly the parents are even worse. Its absolutely sad.

Been there done that (Basketball) just remember two things, your the ref expect to be hated, and your the ref, your decision is final on several occasions I tech fouled the bench to get this point across

To be fair though, they're 7. Unless the kid takes a swipe at another one your job is to drop the puck and blow the whistle.

First off, he did take a swipe at the other if it was tripping. Second off, because "they're 7," it gives no reason for the parents to start a mob. Why? Maybe because they're SEVEN!! Think before you speak.

Who cares... Hockey is gay anyways.

The parents of kids playing sports always think their child is absolutely perfect.

I used to ref hockey when I was younger and the same kind of stuff happened to me all the time. Each crazy ass parent thinks their kid is the next Gretzky.

very typical for us refs... doesnt change much the higher hockey you see and I have seen FAR worse than that. Did you ask for a discount for the doc?
