Ruins

Today, my friend told me she managed to have sex with the guy who told me he didn’t wanna date me, or even become friends with benefits, because it would “ruin our friendship.” They’ve been friends for about two years. Apparently, her friendship with him is worth “ruining.” FML

he was trying to be nice and not tell you he isn't attracted to you. sometimes it's easier to lie then tell someone the truth

(when i was single) The only times I would turn down a FWB offer was when it would hurt the chances of my dating or banging someone else. Or the FWB was at the opposite end of the attractive spectrum (rare with my friends). Guys will bang just about anyone, so my guess is that the mutual friend was his crush the whole time and hooking up with you would would result in her finding out and totally dissing him.

It’s definitely the latter. As my comment to this post said, he didn’t find her attractive enough.

There’s this part of a book called “He’s Not That Into You” where this exact scenario is described. The girl wanted to date or sleep with this guy she was friends with for 10 years but he turned her down saying he didn’t wanna ruin the friendship. The author clarifies this by saying that when a guy is attracted to you, he will bang/date you and that “ruining” the friendship is irrelevant. He won’t “ruin” the friendship because he doesn’t find you attractive enough, sorry to say. Find someone who is attracted to you.
