I had zits everywhere; in my nose, in my ears, arms, legs, back, neck, scalp, on my ass and between my toes and it was all, as you said, just the result of genetics and being a teenager. When I was a teen there were very few acne fighters on the market and I wasn't allowed to have any of them, anyway. My parents looked at my zits as sort of disgusting, oozing, puss-filled chastity belts so my mom did things to encourage my acne, like only having Irish Spring soap in the house. Irish Spring made me break out. The minutes I turned 18 I literally RAN to a dermotologist who put me on prescription meds. My mom got her mitts on them and threw them all out. When confronted, she claimed I was an asshole for spending my money on crap that didn't work and she was 'helping me' because that shit was making my skin worse (trust me, it was not possible for my skin to get worse). Uh, how would I know it didn't work, she threw it all out within 48 hours of me getting it and it was only a waste of money because, again, she threw it all out. I didn't try again until I got to college, out of her reach. And FYI, all that doctor prescribed stuff actually did work, so my mom is an ass.

#45, you obviously haven't had chronic acne all over your body. Like #39, I've been there. It made trying to pass through adolescence invisibly *impossible* and I still have acne scars.

45- Why? Can you play? It would be nice to hear some classical. It's always nice to hear some classical. If not please don't tease. 47- I wish I had some acne. I'm 16 and I've had very little and only one large zit in 8th grade. I can never join in on the complaining with my friends... It would be nice to have a couple on my face. It would probably help me build some character too. Not on my body though, just my face...

u probably won't ever get acne then. maybe as an adult. but I'm 23 and I only ever had a couple zits in my life.

Same thing for me 17, I'm 15 and have cystic acne (1 inch diameter zits) on my neck, chest, and shoulders. My dermatologist has it controlled on my face with 3 different meds but I have scars already. I also randomly get acne on my arms and legs and those ones are painful. Hopefully I'll grow out of it...

Wow 39, I really feel for you. Your own mother did that to you... what a cow.

Some acne medicine does have terrible side effects, though. I knew someone who ended up with kidney failure because of it (which is a noted side effect of Accutane, though I don't know if that's what she used or not...she's quite a bit older than me, so I was in elementary school at the time). I know I might feel differently if I'd had terrible acne, but I'm not really sure it's worth the risks most of the time. Sure, most people don't suffer from side effects, but I can't quite justify a slight risk of potentially fatal side effects for what is, technically, a cosmetic issue. Not that I have any problem with anyone else using prescription acne medicine, at all, but I've always been a little leery of it (probably because of that girl, with me being like 10 and just entering the acne phase). I doubt I'd let my kid use it unless they were REALLY suffering.
