Seems like a bitchy customer to me. She could have answered you, and there was no way for you to know that she had Parkinson's. If you exploded at her or said it in a rude tone, then YDI. Otherwise, FYL. Hopefully your manager will understand.
but you had no idea, it's not like you were purposely trying to offend her.
We get such customers @ work..the family tell us after half an hr of helping them that there is no point in talking to them coz they have some psychological issues or so!
Sounds to me like a bitchy old woman using a disability as an excuse to be an ass. Really, how are you supposed to know? If someone's shaking their head at me through an entire conversation, my first assumption is that they're being disagreeable, too. It's only logical. Yes, it's a terrible disease. There are plenty of terrible diseases in the world. They're not a free ride on the Asshole Express - no matter what your illness, you have to be civil, and realize that not everyone will be aware of your situation right away. She's the one who doesn't realize that not everyone is a mind reader. Or maybe she stopped looking in the mirror and doesn't realize that her tremors look like normal body language (but then shouldn't your question have tipped her off)? In any case, **** HER life.
How is that your fault? I guess people will do anything to make others feel horrible.
I don't think YDI because how was you to know and its normal to wonder why someone is disagreeing with you.
unless you rudely asked her why... i don't see why she got she got all upset about it because that seems to me like a normal reaction to ask why
I hate people that say you are mean and bad. There is no way to pick up on it unless it is alot of random spasms. The girl is the one at fault for overreacting at a simple missunderstanding.
There was a substitute teacher who had the same thing. She was really nice and all the kids mocked her whenever she taught. Our regular teacher warned us about it so we wouldn't ask her about it or mock her. And this was when i was in high school, not in junior high or elementary.

Inconsiderate? How the hell was he supposed to know?
Ouch, sucks fo' you. My great-grandma had that terrible, but it never caused her to shake her head that way. Oh well, you didn't know! I understand her being a bit hurt for the misunderstanding, but no need in talking to the manager about that.
