Silver linings?

By blutownie13 - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I told my ex-boyfriend I lost 20lbs due to the stress of the break up. His response was, "You're welcome." FML

Sounds like you were looking for pity. Why else would you bother to say that? Make him feel guilty? He was right to not give you that.

#67 you need to go thank your ex too, just like the OP

Um...why did you even tell him that in the first place? I'm guessing if the breakup was stressful enough to make you lose that much weight then it probably didn't end on good terms...that just seems like it's asking for an insulting response.

HAHAHa....ok so this definitely happened to me last summer. i dumped my gf...about a month we got back together she lost 15 lbs. the loss of weight was one of the reasons i got back with her. rofl.

Unless you and your ex are very, very close friends now, I fail to see why you would tell him you lost 20 pounds. My latest ex and I are better friends now than when we dated, and we talk about the stresses and problems we had when we broke up sometimes so each of us understands where the other is/was coming from. By the sounds of it, though, that is not the case with you. Guilt trip = fail.
