Today, I tried to demonstrate to my friend how laughably dull our kitchen knives are by swiping one across my palm. Turns out Dad noticed the problem yesterday and sharpened them. FML

You should have demonstrated on your neck instead of your palm. Perhaps then the punishment for your stupidity would have been more suitable.

that sucks OP :( I have a Jacknife like that. it's so dull that I can push it down and drag it accross my hand and it doesn't even scratch. FYL though.

Wow, great job not knowing that a dull knife is much more dangerous than a sharp one... sharp knives slice, dull knives tear :-/ At least you have a clean cut now with minimal scarring... you should thank him... YDI

...actually, a dull knife is only more dangerous because you need to exert more pressure; thus, this would only be applicable during normal use. Since the OP was only trying to show how dull they were, and therefore would be dragging the blade lightly across her skin, there would have been relatively no danger if the knife was dull.
