Slip up

By clumsyandhungry - 15/09/2010 04:24 - United States

Today, we were closing the restaurant early. I begin mopping as a couple walks in. The lady slips and falls, and to avoid a lawsuit, we offer them free food. After they left, I slipped on the freshly mopped kitchen floor with dishes in my hands. I didn't get free food. FML

Well no duh u didnt get free food. u work there!!!

That's your fault-you work there, so you should've noticed that the floor was being mopped.

I thought non-slip shoes were required in all restaurants?

So did I. I know they're required in mine.

YDI for not wearing non-slip shoes. Where do you work that they aren't required? If you had been smart and worn them, you would have been fine. You get no sympathy from me.

You are lucky that the restaurant got away without being sued, or you and the other staff members did not get into trouble. You should not be mopping when the restaurant was not officially closed yet - as in the doors were still opened and customers could still enter. You should always lock the door before proceeding with cleaning!

It's part of your job to deal with wet floors. You failed. You should pay the restaurant to keep your job.

Awww, you didn't? Well then I guess just FYL.

Two things: 1. Put out a damn 'caution' sign. Every restaurant has one. They HAVE to have one for that exact reason. 2. Non-slip shoes, dumbass. Anyone who works in any sort of food service should be wearing them.
