I'm so sorry for your loss. People don't know what to say. As a dog owner, I'm sure for her the loss of her dog was the most profound loss she could offer in sympathy.
I'm wondering why you were talking to a woman you didn't know in the first place. But still, sorry for your loss. Also, to the people commenting saying that comparing a dog to the death of a soldier is disgusting, well, I find your comments disgusting. Animals are just as important to many of us, but that doesn't mean they're MORE important. Losing either one would be hard, and perhaps this woman wasn't married and had a special bond with her dog. You never know, but losing a pet is still losing a member of the family and shouldn't be laughed at. I'm not condoning this woman's method of consoling OP, but still, the people saying mean things about the dog need to stop and have a heart.
wow what an idiot
I'm sorry about your husband. And I applaud his sacrifice for this country. But people like that...it just plain pisses me off. It amazes me the amount of people with single digit IQs in this country, and yet we've somehow managed to keep our independence for over two-hundred years.
Im sorry :(
Most people get pets with the expectation that they will outlive said pet. Most people go into marriage with the expectation that their spouse will be around for the rest of their lives. They don't compare, no matter how much one may love their pet or how long they have had it. If you think the loss of a pet is the same as the loss of the person you chose to spend the rest of your life with, then marriage really is no longer sacred.
