Today, during a text conversation with a girl I've been trying to get with, she complained about how crummy of a day she was having. I told her it couldn't be as bad as she thought, and she would probably get it over it soon. Then she told me she had found out her cousin had been murdered. FML

Today, I ran into one of my exes, and she seemed straight up shocked to see me. She said, "OH MY GOD! You're alive?" like I was a suicide risk or something. Nope, turns out her last 3 boyfriends before me were so unstable that when she cheated on them, they killed themselves shortly after. FML

I can't see why people are saying you deserve it, or that you're an ass. Did you know that her ex died? No, I'm guessing, and usually, when someone is talking about a past relationship and says "it ended badly", usually the person means (s)he cheated on him/her. But next time, it's best to keep your mouth shut or ask why(if you're really curious).
