Sorry Mr Whiskers

Today, my overly-attached 14-year-old cat wanted attention while I was in a heated Skype argument with my girlfriend. Worked up from the fight, I raised my voice and said, "Not now, go away!" He ran to his little bed, had a heart attack and died. I was a complete dick to my cat in his last moments. FML

This is probably the most awful FML I've ever read. I'm sorry about your cat, OP :(

This FML makes me want a cat heaven. D..:>

I literally made an account, just to be able to comment on this. It's so sad - I'm literally on the verge of tears. I'm so sorry for your loss!! You are clearly an awesome pet owner, because you are sad about this. You definitely need to know that your cat loves you. Now your cat is across the rainbow bridge, with other cats I, and other people who have read your comment, have lost. They have each other, and we have wonderful memories with them. Please don't beat yourself up over this. And if you're feeling overwhelmed about gf stress, and guilt over the cat, please remember that things will get better!! Hang in there!! Look at all the people who care about you, and understand your pain. You're not a bad person, you have such a good heart. Whoever made the comment above that said one moment of frustration doesn't erase years of happiness and love is right!! 14 years is an amazing amount of time and love to give to a cat. <3 I'm so sorry for your loss, but don't let yourself feel to terribly about what happened. Your cat definitely still loves you. <3 <3 <3

This is possibly the saddest FML I've ever read. My condolences, OP.

I'm so sorry OP but you can't beat yourself up you didn't know your cat was about to die and at least it was old age a dog I loved and had for nine years name Jesse had to be put down when I was younger cause my mom accidentally ran over her and broke her spine and the look of fear I saw in her eyes broke my heart

I feel for you. Just before my dad had a heart attack I was a complete **** and shouted at him, I was lucky that he survived and the first thing I did was apologise repeatedly. He told me, he knew I still loved him and that no matter how much I shout at him he knows I'll never hate him... I hope your cat felt the same way.

I hope you didn't just compare your father to a cat. That was your dad. He was your father and was the reason why you are live. I know OP loved his cat and had it for a long time but there is still a big difference. A cat is a cat, a father is a father. If I had to choose between you and OP for whose life was more ******, I'd say you.

All pets, including cats, are just as important as humans. You'll find out when you get some empathy and stop being a douche

I'm so sorry, this is one of my worst fears with my cat.

I'm so sorry, OP. You clearly were upset about the argument, and your kitty was trying to comfort you (or tell you something was wrong). And I know that when we're upset, the last thing we want is our furbabies demanding attention. I also know from experience that elderly cats tend to get very clingy and needy. There's a website for people who are mourning the loss of a pet. If you like, I can pass that along to you.

It isn't your fault, man. Your buddy was old, and it was his time to leave us. He was probably just waiting for you to finish arguing. I'm pretty certain that he loves you, and watches over you!
