Suitor

By PleaseDontBeSerious - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - Canada

Today, my daughter brought home her new boyfriend. He has a neck tattoo, and his life's dream is to be a professional "beer pong player." FML

I dislike people who stereotype others based on their tattoos. Just because someone has a tattoo, doesn't mean their bad. The way this FML was worded, it seemed like the person was not only making judgments on their terrible job choice, but their tattoo. The only FML I see is the boyfriend's poor choice in job interest.

Look at the bright side, she's not pregnant...... Yet....

What's wrong with a neck tattoo? I know plenty of successful people with neck tattoos. I myself am going to get one and I'm studying to be a counsellor. Way to stereotype, ********.

Totally agree! My husband is very tattooed and successful!

#19, If you plan to work with the public, you have to beware of stereotypes, whether they are unfair or not. A non-trivial number of potential clients aren't going to trust the judgment of a counsellor with a neck tattoo. Either rethink the neck tattoo or prepare to invest in turtleneck sweaters.

Perhaps because it'll look gross when he gets older and his neck skin begins to sag and wrinkle...

Was the tattoo of a beer can?

Exert your authority ONLY if he's an ass,

Tattoos shouldn't be used to judge someone, unless it was derogatory or stupid. The beer pong thing though, I'd be worried.

seems he is still a teenager :)

Not only do teens do this, but older men that can't really grow up. You can't just say he's a teen, that's stereotyping. I've seen adults do this a lot and they don't really get far with party life. Just saying.

I don't see why you should be bothered with the neck tattoo and his job aspiration. The job part is pretty stupid, I get it, but it doesn't really have anything to do with you. Are you worried that your daughter might develop similar interests and waste her time? If you raised her right, she will realise whether this guy is worth her time or not. And even though he has a neck tattoo, he just might really like her and treat her right....

I agree with the job aspiration, but a neck tattoo doesn't mean he's awful.

... I'm sorry but what's wrong with the tattoo?

I anticipated the 'don't stereotype tattooed people rawrr' comments and, whilst I agree and think OP definitely shouldn't have worded it that way if they didn't want to sound like an ass, maybe it was more the content than the tattoo itself? I mean, if his life dream is to be a professional beer pong player, how bad must his tattoo be...?

Neck tattoos are great! For OP to hate it it must have been one that said "JustinBieber4Ever" or something like that.
