Today, I found out my cousin - who suffers from bipolar disorder - shot herself in the chest and has only a 20 percent chance of living. I told my boyfriend, while crying, and he held me for a few minutes. As soon as I got quiet, he pulled out his iPhone and started playing a shooter game. FML

Your boyfriend probably thinks people respawn in real life like in CoD.

naww that's pretty sad :( if he did it on purpose I think he deserves a punch in the face . but maybe it was a coinsidence :o

I'm sorry, but I kinda thought this was funny...

I can't believe some of the comments on here. Really. No one deserves this! I'm sorry about your cousin OP. and your boyfriend probably didn't realize :/ I'm sure he just wasn't thinking. At least he did comfort you.

same thing happened with my cousin. Bi-polar disorder and he shot himself in the chest, but had no chance

@164: Well, she is bipolar, which means she switches from good moods to insanely bad moods regularly. Maybe she failed to take her medicine and it resulted in this. If she was well medicated and surrounded by the people that love her then, chances are, she wouldn't want to die. Qho knows, maybe she would. But she should be given the chance. @175: My thoughts exactly, I agree.

Now that is not true at all. People suffering from bipolar disorder may not have alternating episodes regularly. Someone with bipolar disorder can have a manic or depressive episode which lasts days, weeks, or months. Those episodes are not necessarily as bad as you imply they are. There are varying degrees of bipolar which may have less severe episodes of mania or depression. To imply that someone suffering from bipolar is going from suicidal to elated multiple times throughout the day shows a lack of understanding of the disorder on your part and indicates you should not comment about it at all.

You people do realize that when someone posts something to FML, they're not physically here for it, right? Like, the OP wrote this in thirty seconds, hit send, and moved on with her life. Right now, she's probably doing something else like being with her family or dumping her boyfriend's uncaring ass, not sitting around being "on" Fmylife.com. Also, it's a requirement that all FMLs start with "Today,". It doesn't mean it actually happened TODAY. Keep this in mind before you make dumb comments.

I don't even know the OP or the cousin, and I feel really bad. I wouldn't start playing games, I would try to be supportive and thoughtful.

your cousin is an idiot. I hope she lives so she can be known as the one who can't even kill herself without ******* up. your bf is cool.
