Suspicious behavior

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I found out that driving five miles an hour under the posted speed limit is "suspicious" and cause for a field sobriety test, breathalyzer, having your car searched and being handcuffed on the side of the road. FML

Sounds like the cop doesn't know the law very well (surprise surprise). Any evidence would have been tossed...he's a moron.

@#2: What? There are plenty of reasons to be driving under the speed limit: - it's dark - bad weather - you are unfamiliar with the territory/trying to find a place you've never been - you don't know the speed limit - you're car is impaired

You were probably hammered when the cop pulled you over and in other lanes and swerving all over the road, so the cop probably had a reason to pull you over. Then you failed the breathelizer and sobriety test thus you were handcuffed. If you really were drunk then you deserves everything that you got and should be shot in the head or get all of your limbs cut off and decapitated

#9: That was rude. Going 5 mph below the speed limit isn't not being able to drive, it's just driving slower than the rest of traffic, which is fine especially in bad weather, in the night, or an unfamiliar area. Hell, sometimes the highways here get so packed that it's lucky to be going 10mph, are you going to say those people can't drive too, since, after all, that's like 45mph under the speed limit?

A lot of pigs don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Just lower rung high school graduates who needed quick employment.

****, I'm so sick of this shit. That isn't probably cause and the cop had no right to do that. I'm sick of cops thinking they are above the constitution.

They can't handcuff you for that legally since it's a secondary defense. I would speak to a supervisor.

fyi. you don't have to consent to them searching your car without a warrant.

im the OP and i drive a 76 chevy i get better gas mileage when i drive 60 so tryin to save a few bucks, my buddy was asleep in the passenger seat (the cop assumed he was hammered) he claimed my eyes were glossy i let him search the car and all that because i didnt want to be there all night

same shit, i was taking my exit and slowed down for it and the cops pulled me over for driving slower than the speed limit. that was funny as hell

to #21, "However, if everyone is going 10 over and you are going 5 under then it is still dangerous." umm, excuse me? so because everyone else is breaking the law by going 10 over, why should the OP break the law as well? Today I was going 5 over the speed limit, and some asshole was going 10 over, decided to pass me up by cutting me off with no turn signal... all of which could have easily been avoided if I had gone 55 in a 45. but why should I risk getting a speeding ticket just because someone else can't go the speed limit?

The police officer was probably pissed because he lost money in the stock market. Blame the economy!!!
