#13 is semi-wrong. If a cop tells you it gives him 'probable cause', then asks if he can search your car and you say yes. Its perfectly legal. They can lie all they want, and do it all the time. Lying isn't against the law until you're under an oath. If he said it gives him probable cause, and asks and you say no and he searches it anyways, that is ilegal (assuming he doesn't actually have probable cause). The lesson here, always say no. Saying no doesn't mean you have something to hide, it just means you know your rights.
This makes me wish that they would raise the maximum limit of characters of an FML (it's 300 right now). That way, we would have to leave as much out of the story.
I don't know how to vote on this unless I know if you were really drunk. However, driving below the speed limit is one of the most common indicators of drunk driving, according to police, so he was probably correct in stopping you. However, I have a hard time believing he would have pulled you out and handcuffed you unless you had warrants, history of violence, or copped an attitude with him.

he needs a warrant to search your car. you could file a law suit because of that.
The cop doesn't need a warrant to search your car if you give him your consent to search it. So the problem is: You can refuse to give consent, but then he can just make you wait while he tries to obtain a warrant, which takes hours. So instead of giving your consent and letting him search your car, and getting out of there, you have to waste several hours of your time on the chance that he will be unable to obtain a warrant. If you're hauling/doing something illegal, it's worth the chance that he can't obtain a warrant. Oh, and keep your mouth shut. Right to remain silent and all. Them getting probable cause to search your vehicle based on you opening your dumb mouth is a big no-no. If you're not doing something illegal, and you don't have alot of time to kill, you might as well just let him search your car. If you can afford the wait, then wait. Keep in mind though that police can detain you without cause for up to 24 hours. Standing up for your rights is the 'right' thing to do, but it can be a massive timesink.

Sounds like the cop doesn't know the law very well (surprise surprise). Any evidence would have been tossed...he's a moron.
@#2: What? There are plenty of reasons to be driving under the speed limit: - it's dark - bad weather - you are unfamiliar with the territory/trying to find a place you've never been - you don't know the speed limit - you're car is impaired
