Well since he's retired there's a position opened up as a service dog in the military. I bet they've never had a service dog with a masters degree before!

Yeah maybe get a degree in something useful next time, by which I mean actually look at the job market and think about what you could do with your degree. Your masters in philosophy doesn't do shit for anyone. Am I assuming a lot here? Yes, but I don't think the assumptions are unreasonable.
