My mom did this, when I was 18 we went on a family vacation to Hawaii and she whips out a credit card for the hotel and says "Oh, this is in your name by the way. I opened it when they sent it to you in the mail." I had yet to apply for any cards on my own and I was pretty indignant that my mom would do that and then not tell me. She's one of those supportive moms though, so she did pay it off. But I was still angry that she had done that, I can only imagine what it would be like in this scenario.

well, your credit doesn't "reset" every 7 years, but certain things can be taken off your credit report every 7 years.
