The accident

Today, I'm 36 and accidentally got pregnant with my FWB, a 28 year-old bartender. I told him and he broke down and admitted he’s actually only 19, an unemployed college dropout who lives with his parents. I didn’t believe it until I saw his driver's license, date of birth 2004. So much for child support… FML

I'm sure you guys can scrape up enough money for an abortion

She did not knowingly agree to have sex with a teenager. The friend lied about his age. The sex happened under false pretenses. She does not claim to have forgone protection. The sex very well may have been protected. Even when used properly, protection can still fail. Framing pregnancy as a negative "consequence" betrays that a moral judgment is being applied to the act of intercourse. Bringing children into the world should be a voluntary act of love, never a punishment. Pregnancy & child rearing are expensive. It is reasonable to expect a parent to help with at least the expenses of raising a child. It really doesn't get much more adult than that.

Will, he's 19, you're 36, what's your excuse for not using protection. And there's no such thing as an accidental pregnancy, you were careless and these are the consequences. Plus your first reaction is to think about support? Are you sure you're not the child?

Every single protection can fail. Even a vasectomy isn't a surefire way of preventing pregnancy.

Why are you covering up the word abortion? Someone already even said it anyway.

Good thing he's of legal age or you'd have a statutory rape lawsuit slapped on you. Still, one word - contraception.
