The strangeness of strangers

By zomg - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States - Port Saint Lucie

Today, while at work as a cashier, I tried to be sweet and ID an elderly man buying a bottle of wine. He responded by calling me a "blind-ass bitch" and calling my manager for "harassing" him. FML

Some people just need to learn to take compliments once in a while...

I think you'd get a better result if you did that to an old lady

if hes an elder obviiously hes older than 21..

Why did you deserve this? Some people need to learn that you have to ask EVERYONE who wants to but anything alcoholic has to show ID even if they're 100 years old, it's the law.

At least you know you won't be fired

Yeah I hated being a cashier and having to ask the elderly for an ID they would throw such a fit.

That is very insulting to most elderly people. They are not stupid, it's not flattering at all. When you do something like that you are treating them like a child. FHL YDI

He's elderly, not in his 30s ! That IS a bit rude! Besides, it's usually women (due to societal norms) that get flattered by that sort of thing.

Usually it's the older woman that appeeciate getting ID checked

Ouch. That's why I would usually shoot some older customers a grin and say, "I'm gonna go ahead and assume you're 21." or make some sort of joke if they looked like the joking type.
