man, I would HATE to work or live somewhere that a building owner can fine his tenants based upon subjective interpretation of what constitutes an emergency worthy of disturbing the Police Academy drop-out in the security office!
Well considering that most panic/alarm buttons in elevators are routed through to the police/fire department, that would be their call, not the employers.
YDI for not shimmying through the ceiling panel and scaling the elevator shaft to safety.
